Cliff Spiro brings 25 years of research and engineering leadership experience. His expertise is in leading technical organizations and helping organizations accelerate the process of driving and acquiring innovation.
Dr. Spiro’s experience as a technology executive and scientist encompasses a variety of industries and applications, and includes responsibilities in business development and the application of Six Sigma processes to R&D activities. He has established and directed laboratories throughout the world and has been instrumental in global technology acquisition, due diligence and integration.
Dr. Spiro served as Vice President of Research and Development of Cabot Microelectronics Corporation from 2003 to 2011 and then later was named Chief Technology Officer. Before joining Cabot Microelectronics, Dr. Spiro served as Vice President of Research and Development at Ondeo-Nalco, a multi-billion dollar technology and industrial process company. Prior to his position at Ondeo-Nalco, Dr. Spiro held senior technology and R&D management positions for 22 years at the General Electric Company.
Dr. Spiro serves as a Member of the Advisory Board for the University of Chicago Materials Research consortium, the Advisory Board for the University of Arizona ERP consortium and the Executive Board of the ERP-MIC Council. Dr. Spiro served as a Director of Strategic Diagnostics Inc. from 2006 to 2010. An acclaimed technologies as well as business leader, Dr. Spiro has written 77 scientific articles, 66 conference presentations, 22 Company Reports, and was awarded a gold medal for his 20th U.S. patent application in 1992, of which 19 have been issued.
Dr. Spiro holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology, where he received the Herbert Newby McCoy Prize for top thesis, and a BS in Chemistry with honors from Stanford.
